Today Was a Bizarre Day
by Jose DiazToday was a bizarre day, but I couldn’t couldn’t quite figure out what was that nagging feeling tickling my spine.
Jangle jangle, keys ring.
My stomach is growling.
A clank resounds and a cell opens.
It booms shut . . . my stomach rumbles.
I could hear the drops of water hit the sink’s basin. Am I allowed to drink water. Would that be cheating in the solidarity. NPR relates that my brothers in Palestine are hungry, but what do they know about Attica.
I lay here and dream there of a place and country where my people will not be harmed by a fascist government. Where religion is not wry and twisted in some type of wrestling match for political advantage. My stomach grumbles and I don’t give a fuck if the water in the basin grows stagnate. What does the guard know about the dream of a free Palestine?
Gun shots ring out in a ghetto filled with dark faces . . . I am in a poor area somewhere in America.
